MARYLAND TAXPAYERS ASSOCIATION
Rescuing Maryland * Saturday Breakfast, June 23
Special Guest: former Governor Jim Gilmore of Virginia
Start your weekend with a good breakfast. Our speaker will talk about how Virginia got rid of its equivalent of our piggyback income tax. It was known as “the hated car tax.” Governor Gilmore won his election on this platform. You will leave with a special book about cutting government without pain. You will also hear about Maryland’s own diminishing revenue returns due to higher taxes. We need you to RSVP because we will be serving food. For questions, please call 410-665-4769 or reply to this email.

More about our featured speaker
Jim Gilmore served as governor of Virginia from 1998 until 2002. Gilmore gained national
prominence during his campaign and governorship by advocating conservative policies that
directly addressed the daily concerns of working men and women. He left Virginia in good fiscal shape. It has been rated the #1 pro-business state in the country and has its share of companies that have left Maryland for a better business climate. The Governor is now President and CEO of the Free Congress Foundation. Gilmore’s legacy of nearly two decades of public service is highlighted by significant policy work on the major issues of taxation and homeland security and by a determined focus to bring people together from different beliefs and backgrounds.
